Year on year we visited this tree as a family. This was not a planned pilgrimage, but an unspoken agreement based on a shared admiration and sense of loyalty. Now we make our journey as a three not a four, and the connection feels only stronger. What stories this tree must have to tell, if only we could learn to listen.
‘I dread the inevitability of the ellipses’

A print from a series communicating the devastating impacts of dementia through the process of coastal erosion. Each image in the series was paired with a short extract of creative writing. This particular print focuses on the terrifying idea of getting lost in familiar places and being unable to decipher or hold onto memories.

‘This summer I watched you whittle. I am learning Dad.’

A print created to painstakingly observe and remember. To remember every moment of that lesson last summer. Moments from a sunny afternoon in the garden watching my Dad repeat motions with a whittling tool that were engraved into his mind from a young age. A lesson we continued in his hospital bed, then only a few weeks later, in the hospice. Whilst Dad's last and my first wooden spoon came into being, wood chips fell onto clinical floors and pristine white bed sheets.
